1. Am I required to use the company my insurance wants to send out? Their reviews are terrible.....

Answer: You are not required to use your insurance company's "preferred" vendor. You may use a contractor of your choice. In many cases, these "preferred" vendors have procedural agreements in place with the insurance company.

2. Is asbestos abatement covered by my insurance?

Answer: It depends. If the asbestos-containing materials are damaged by water damage (or the event that caused the damage and need for a claim), in most cases, yes. Your insurance will not pay to remove asbestos from your home for renovation purposes.
